Joined ALA in 2010
I have always been known for my big dreams. After my father was unjustly mistreated by the government, I became totally motivated to work against the injustice of others.
This is why I became so interested in taking up a big role in Lumiere Projects. Lumiere is a fundraiser for government-funded institutions. I help organize this annual event and am passionate about it because it caters for those that are seen as dejected. Nothing makes me smile as much as when I was in orphanages on behalf of Lumiere.
I was interested in attending ALA because it corresponds with everything I want to be in life. I appreciate that ALA considers their students to be leaders, and I believe ALA chose me because they recognized that my dreams for the future of Africa will grow into a beautiful reality.
I have explored my passion for music and dance as director of the ALApella choir, and as a member of the cultural dance group and FECC school dance group at ALA. I am also an ALA ambassador, and an enthusiastic member of the Model United Nations club. In 2010 I was the external relations officer of the Global Strategy for Inclusive Education Foundation. I also spent a year as the manager of Midas Touch Salon, a student-run business.
One of my personal causes is women’s empowerment, so I established the EmoArt Sisterhood Community Service Program. We teach young girls proper life skills that will allow them think maturely and help them develop their creativity and artistic skills.
I feel that ALA goes beyond the definition of a school to become a family. It caters to the needs of every single student and helps us make sustainable changes in our lives. The student’s relationship with the ALA community is very personal and that bond motivates me to work not only for ourselves, but for the person beside or behind me.
I see myself in three arenas in life. On stage, as I prepare to become a professional dancer. On television, to fulfill my dream of being a news reporter. On a seat, in the United Nations. My eyes are wide open to experience everything and anything!
