Opportunities for Students and Professionals
ALA Associate
African Leadership Academy Associate positions are 3-12 month fellowships.
These are outstanding opportunities for dynamic, innovative individuals with 2-3 years consulting
experience to shape an exceptional educational institution that aims to change the face of Africa.
Academy Associates may help develop ALA student recruitment strategies, develop and benchmark our
curriculum, or build ALA’s network of friends and partners across Africa and around the world.

Entrepreneurship and Design Fellowship
Entrepreneurship and Design Fellows will work with the ALA curriculum team for
3-6 months to shape our unique, two-year “design-based” entrepreneurship curriculum for outstanding
young leaders from across the African continent. This work may include identifying and evaluating
other programs that develop skills in design, innovation, and entrepreneurship, instituting a “
Design and Innovation Mindset” at ALA, and developing specific curriculum modules to be implemented
at ALA.

Leadership Fellowship
Leadership Fellows will work with the ALA curriculum team for 3-6 months to
develop our unique, two-year, integrated leadership curriculum for outstanding young leaders from
across the African continent. This work may include identifying and evaluating other leadership
development programs around the world to determine “best practice” aspects to be incorporated into
the ALA Leadership curriculum; refining the current curriculum design based on insights from
research; and developing specific curriculum modules and units to be implemented at ALA

African Studies Fellowship
African Studies Fellows will work with the ALA curriculum team for 3-6 months
to develop a two-year, integrated African Studies curriculum. This work may include developing a
curriculum design with subject matter experts from across Africa and around the world, evaluating
other African studies curricula to determine “best practice” aspects to be incorporated into the
ALA African studies curriculum, and developing specific curriculum modules to be implemented at
ALA.

Visiting Faculty
Beginning in September 2008, African Leadership Academy will welcome visiting
faculty members on exchange from leading secondary schools and universities around the world for
year-long visiting faculty positions. These positions will be posted beginning in late 2007.
Experts-In-Residence
African Leadership Academy invites eminent leaders, scholars and experts from all
fields and sectors to enjoy a period of study (1 week or more) on the ALA campus in South Africa.
An Expert-in-Residence would continue his or her work while staying in the Dean’s House and
actively take part in the life on our campus as a member of the ALA community. Experts-in-Residence
are expected to lead a short student seminar and encouraged to join the social and cultural events
taking place on campus.
